Jake Welch…Meet the Beauty Industry and NYC

Last time I checked I was in the sixth grade and my teacher was reading the book Oh The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Suess. She asked us where we thought we would be in ten years. Well it has been over ten years and here I am doing things that might constitute as a real life.

Just the other day I was offered an internship at L’Oreal in New York City. That’s right, L’Oreal, one of the largest beauty companies in the world. Now how they decided that they wanted an alpha-male like myself, I am not sure but I do know that it will most definitely be one of most unique experiences in my entire life.

If you were to ask me at any point in my entire life if I envisioned myself working anywhere beauty related, the answer would be a resounding no. I have always dreamed of working in the sporting world or something food related and my experiences with beauty products are rather limited. Nevertheless, I am ready to take on any challenge that comes my way.

Did I mention that I am going to be working and living in New York City? To say I am ridiculously excited for this would be an drastic understatement. I don’t imagine that I will have much free time outside of my internship but this is the list of things I absolutely have to do this summer while in NYC.

-Play basketball in Rucker Park in Harlem and baseball in Central Park

-Go to a Yankees and Mets game

-Go to the Guggenheim and Met Art Museums

-See at least three Broadway shows

-Play my geetar on the Brooklyn Bridge

Anyhow, my adventure begins late May and ends in August. Let’s just hope I can make it through this semester of school.
